Earnings Night · SiriusXM Q3 2026 · October 29, 2026
I sell podcast sponsorships for a living. So when a company doing $2.15 billion a quarter in audio tells Wall Street where its ad dollars are growing, I read the footnotes.
SiriusXM reported Q3 this morning. The headline is "raised guidance." The real story is underneath it.
What's moving
Revenue went nowhere. Profit and cash went up. Every growth line is creators or ad tech.
The ad engine shifted. Pandora and off-platform ad revenue rose just 1% to $419M. Podcasting (+20%) and programmatic (+21%) grew; streaming music ads shrank with listening.
Reach got bigger without listeners getting bigger. The YouTube Audio partnership lifted SiriusXM Media's monthly reach to about 255M, up from 170M a year ago.
They bought fandom. Giggly Squad, Serialously and The Bald and the Beautiful joined the podcast slate. Giggly Squad sold out multiple nights at Madison Square Garden.
Metric | Q3 2026 | vs. Q3 2025 |
|---|---|---|
Total revenue | $2.153B | Flat |
Adjusted EBITDA | $694M (32% margin) | +3% |
Free cash flow | $293M | +14% |
Podcast ad revenue | Not broken out | +20% |
Programmatic ad revenue | Not broken out | +21% |
Pandora ad-supported listener hours | 2.25B | -10% |
Pandora monthly active users | 38.8M | -7% |
SiriusXM self-pay net adds | +5K | Up from -40K |
Guidance went up $25M each on revenue (~$8.55B), Adjusted EBITDA (~$2.65B) and free cash flow (~$1.40B).
Why it matters
SiriusXM is in harvest mode. The core product is being managed for cash, and creators are the growth story it is buying.
The subscriber number has a crutch. Self-pay grew by 5,000. Companion plans, a cheaper add-on, contributed 107,000. Take them out and the rest of the base lost roughly 102,000 self-pay subscribers.
Each new car got more expensive. Subscriber acquisition cost per installation jumped 15% to $22.36. Total acquisition spend was flat at $107M, but installations fell 3% and margin on radio sales shrank. Same spend, fewer cars.
Profit growth came from below the line. Operating income actually fell 3% to $479M, with depreciation up 18%. Net income rose 7% because other income jumped to $46M from $10M, a line that includes gains on financial instruments. Diluted EPS fell 7% to $0.78 on convertible-note accounting.
The "raised" guide implies a soft Q4. Subtract nine-month results from the new full-year numbers:
Implied Q4 | Q4 2026 (implied) | Q4 2025 (actual) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
Revenue | ~$2.146B | $2.193B | -2% |
Adjusted EBITDA | ~$599M | $691M | -13% |
Free cash flow | ~$343M | $541M | -37% |
Guidance is stated as "approximately," so treat these as directional. Still: either management is sandbagging, or it sees Q4 costs coming that it hasn't named. Worth watching.
Where the cash goes next. Satellite capex falls from $262M in 2024 to near zero by 2028. Net leverage is down to 3.3x, and the CFO flagged accelerated share buybacks in 2027. That is a company returning cash, not chasing growth.
One more signal for sellers. Satellite ad revenue fell 5% to $37M on softer demand from news programming and direct-to-consumer advertisers. Sports held up.
The opportunity
The money in audio is following fans, not formats. Here's what that means depending on your seat.
Creators: You are the asset SiriusXM is paying for. Sell audio, video and live as one package. A sold-out room is worth more than a download count.
Brands: Budgets are moving to podcasts and programmatic. Lock in creator-led partnerships before the big platforms bid up the price.
Independent shows and networks: Fandom plus IRL is the model a public company just validated at Madison Square Garden. Build the live layer and the owned audience now, while you still own both.
Sellers: Lead with sports-adjacent content. That's where buyer demand held up this quarter.
